We partnered with Walmart Technology to create a platform that uplifted and amplified the stories of women in STEM fields. Our goal was to put these outstanding women and their stories first, to create a space for them to connect with other women in the field and to inspire future technologists.
All too often, women’s voices go unheard. Especially in male-dominated fields such as technology. This project presented the unique opportunity to let these women tell their own stories—to share their struggles, their successes, and their hopes for the future of their field.
We sat down with each woman and had real conversations. The result was hours of footage that showed both the incredible feats of these women, as well as their shared humanity. By spotlighting their stories, we not only uplift these women, we make their accomplishments attainable for the women who follow.
Our award-winning photographer, Jack Thompson, captured truly empowering portraits of our Spark Women. Over the course of two years, we photographed over 40 women.
After hours of working with these women, we put pen to paper and gathered their narratives into a visually stunning coffee table book that could be used for recruiting purposes and brand awareness. In addition to the Spark Women’s stories and photographs, we included thoughtful pull quotes to grab the reader's attention.
To round out our content ecosystem, we created a hub of digital activity on the Spark Women website. Each year, we created a new online experience, putting our different content forms front and center. We also pulled in relevant content from third party sites to broaden the conversation. Lastly, we went social, creating a loop of activity between platforms and drawing visitors to the site.
